I am just about to start playing a new campaign with a new DM and I want to be an assassin. I would like to play the assassin kit but I don't know how the assassin's greatest power (the backstab) advances as I gain lvls. I know that in BG an assassin could have a larger backstab multiplier than a thief of the same level. Please help me and tell me where can I get the info.

Info is in the Dungeon Masters Guide. Just bought it. Do you want to have all the info about it? I can print it all up but it'll take time.

If you are playing a 3rd Edition campaign, then the Assassin is actually a prestige class, meaning that you'll actually have to be at least fifth level to take a level in the Assassin class (not to mention that you have to be evil and in the Assassin society). If that's the case, then you should know that there's no such thing as backstab in 3rd Edition.

Opengamingfoundation.org. Look in classes -> Assassin.

[EDIT: Judging from your previous posts, you are apparently playing 3rd Edition.]

I'm playing a 2nd edition campaign and I found most of the info I need in the Complete book of Thieves but I still remember that my assassin character had a backstab x7 multiplier and there is not a single word on the subject in the Complete book.

Maybe you should ask about this in then BGII forum, and see what someone has to say then.
