    BTDT - 885 All-Time Greatest Albums

My favorite radio station just finished playing this countdown last week. It was amazing, especially when they started playing the full albums of the Top 25. The results were determined by a listener poll, and 5400 people voted.

    Autumn: Summers End

I did forget that one... but I don't know wich album should leave the list to put that one in...

Either The Dance, Midian, Never Say Die or Ass Cobra...

    Same counts for
System Of A Down: System Of A Down...

No album has ever changed my life. My life is my own and I'm not about to let some mamma's boy or a guy screaming in a falsetto tell me how to be a man. I love music, but it certainly doesn't alter the way I live.

By the way, 50 of your favorite albums does not equate to the 50 best albums ever made.

SleepleSS: What a great retort (I'm being sincere). I'm not a big fan of the same music you listen to, but I like your attitude.

Hmmm.... changed my vision on music...

Wings: Band on the Run and The Eagles (self-titled album) got me listening to Rock. From then on everything is a blur.

My attention span is challenged by all the top 5/top 10 lists this board (and the playground) generate. Top 50?!?

    Uh-uh.

Well. Anyway. I'll just go with "changed my outlook on music." Um. Disturbed got me thinking metal was great; then virtually every other metal band I encountered convinced me it was the worst musical genre I'd encountered. Death metal in particular.

    *shudder*

This is more of a "who likes what" list. This should be about "which changed what forever" list.

    For example...

Nirvana changed alternative forever with Nevermind.
    Black Sabbath invented metal.
    Led Zep changed rock forever.
Metallica gave metal a complex, soulful, anthemic side, yet still retained an edge few could.

    Etc

Except that metal was first used as a term to describe Led Zeppelin in Q magazine not Sabbath

And Nirvana IMO didn't change alternative it made it accessible and acceptable to the masses before alternative went back to a dark place again.

If we wanted we could argue this all day and not agree because music is personal choice

Sleepless, I can safely say that I have not even heard of any of those albums, let alone listened to any of them.

In fact, I have only ever heard of a handful of all of the albums listed in this thread so far.

No way do I have time to list 50 albums so I will list the top 10 that have had the most impact on my life (not to say they are the greatest, just they have been important at various stages of my life):

The Beatles - The Beatles (The White Album)
    The Beatles - Abbey Road
Billy Joel - Greatest Hits Volume I and II
Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Debbie Gibson - Out of the Blue
    Talking Heads - Little Creatures
    Michael Jackson - Thriller
The Beatles - Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Jeff Wayne - Musical version of The War of the Worlds
    Hayley Westenra - Hayley Westenra
