    Some discussion would be nice.
I have 3 tanks in my party:

    - paladin of helm/fighter (aasimar)
    - fighter/ranger (dwarf)
    - barbarian/fighter (half-orc)

Now.. I am in chapter 2 so they are ~lvl8-9. All of them have 4 levels in fighter to get the weapon specialization, but beyond that they have paladin/ranger/barbarian levels to give them unique features. All have favoured class involved so they do not get penalties.

Question is simple.. is this a smart move or would a pure fighter (or pure paladin/ranger/barbarian) be more effective tank?
You know I was thinking beyond lvl4 what does a fighter get? No extra features that I know of, except that they can pick feats more often. In 2nd/ToB fighter class got neat high level features, but not in 3rd/IWD2?
And in other hand.. every tank could use the weapon specialization which only fighter lvl4 can get.
And as p/r/b they get decent selfboosting spells and stuff like barbarian rage (and damage resistance), but still fight as well as pure fighter.

    Any thoughts?

Technically speaking, all my people are tanks. My wizard dual wields and will jump in there.

But, I've found if you have like, one really awesome monk that moves fast, it gives your other people time to unload with the ranged stuff. So, I have everyone else taking out wizards and shaman (there's a bunch of them !!!!!!!!!), while my monk plays Tag! with the melee guys.
