While everyone believes to use the cheap classes for soloing (Kensai/Mage, Kensai/Thief) I have gotten the most enjoyment out of soloing with the more difficult classes to solo (Barbarian, Cleric, Thief) Right now, I am playing an Elven Thief, he is neutral evil, Level 14, and I am having the best time I ever had playing BGII. What this post is about is that I was wondering what you all think is the most fun class to solo.

Definately thief(assasin kit), makes the game much harder and a better challange.More fun all round, espicially in the later levels against Liches and Dragons.

Is soloing where you don't play with a party?

The hardest will be with something like a mage or archer i think. the easiest with something like a cleric and the funniestwill be probably a thief.

Monks would be easiest. Sorceror or Specialist Diviner would be hardest.

why would a monk be the easiest to solo?? when you're put in a situation where u have little choice but to face lots of enemies ie bodhi's final confrontation, u'd be beaten up so badly.

I tried soloing a bit with a half-orc fighter/thief. I abrubtly stopped after quicksaving on reflex and losing my main game. It was fun though, He was a powerhouse.

To fuoco: a high level monk can take on lots of enemies at the same time and with very good saving throws and resistences a monk can easily take on the fight with Bodhi and the other vampires. (to make it a little bit easier you can also use the amulet of power which makes you immune to level drain)

Monks can also detect traps, which, frankly, is a talent that any solo player needs. And having played with one, once they hit level fourteen, they start to get seriously powerful.

Of course, you could play with a straight mage or cleric or whatnot, but if you're REALLY roleplaying, then your character shouldn't know where to look for traps as you, the joe behind the screen who's finished the game before, does.

    My two cents.

I did it with a F/M/T and it was extremely fun....the only downer was not getting some of the npc character subquests. What I did was get one person to join at a time....do their quest (for example: Korgan) and then dump them....It's almost easier to play solo than with a full party IMHO

Actually soloing with a sorcerer is completely viable/fairly easy, You just need to use them summons often and well. Hell you don't even -need- to learn the summon spells you just need the appropriate staffs/wands, By the time you get to level 6 spells yer doing things pretty easily by 7th its fun and cakewalkish by 8th yer floatin on air. Things you -must- have being amulet of power, decent ac bracers (buyable at adventurers mart) and the sling of everard. Things I reccomend are boots of speed, Belt of inertial dampening, Robe of vecna and the assorted elemental staffs. Regardless the sorcerer can handle the game with ease and a whole lotta fun (minus some difficulty in the beggining) Spells choices need to be done with care though. Also wands are a good way to bypass a spell choice.
