But I actually agree with Glenn Beck on this!

At least up to the point that the economy should be left to correct itself, and that the rebate checks are a bad idea that won't have the desired effect. It's irresponsible pandering after popularity, is all.

The debit card piece? Well, as long as I could use it at the grocery store...

the stimulus package is too little too late and the only benefit it might have is psychological, which I doubt will work all that well. It's simply a way for the government to say that atleast it's doing something. In reality I doubt there is much the government can do to improve things but there certainly is a lot of methods for making things worse.

I actually agree with Huckabee on this one. The only people who will benefit from this abomination are the Chinese. We will borrow money from them to give to the citizens who will then turn around and buy goods made in China. It is pure stupidity.

Stupid AND irresponsible. If we really are facing a recession, wouldn't it make more sense for individuals to ensure their own financial position by minimizing debt burden and fattening the nest egg? Trust me, that's how the Rally-family will apply this windfall. There will be no expenditures that weren't already being contemplated before the checks were put into the mail.

Dear God, first Glenn Beck and now TGS... what is happening to me?!

And for many other things, I suppose ;) It's a problem that is often seen here with how the Roma minority often misuses its welfare money. There have been cases where the children don't have clothes or go hungry, but the family gets a new TV and cable television  .

I was quite amused by how he touched upon an issue seldom addressed: the different connotation that public and private spending sometimes have. You see, I've often come across the opinion that public spending is dangerous, because it leads to inflation. At the same time, often the same people say that private spending - any spending - is valuable, because it drives the economy forward.
