I'm not sure if this belongs in Technomagic or here, but I've just acquired a second-hand copy of Windows XP Pro from somebody whose old computer "gave up the ghost" and they decided to buy a new Windows 7 machine.

I'm finally upgrading my old Win98SE machine to XP, but setting it up as a dual boot.

Would there be any issues with backing up my override folders and dialog.tlk files, then reinstalling the Infinity Engine games to the C drive so that they use the same files whichever OS I'm using? The hard drives on this old computer aren't that big, although the computer has plenty of "juice" play those old IE games.
Once I've installed the game, I can just reapply the official patches, then unzip the override folders to redo all my addons like fixpacks, tweaks, etc.

This applies to all the BG and IWD games.

Anybody mind if I ask if there are any issues with using the trick with some other games as well? It's been a LONG time since I've used this trick with dual booting, so my memory's fuzzy on the correct procedure.
