My party has just saved Phaere and is on its way to meet Solaufein inside the city, but while loading the city the game crashes to windows mentioning a run-time error and something about a C++ library.

I tried dling the most recent patch, but since I have ToB installed I'm told I don't need it. Anyone know how to correct this, or am I going to have to talk to some customer service(something I do not relish)?

Sorry, but the only thing I can think of is this:
Uninstall the whole thing then install ONLY BG2-SoA. Reload the game and then install ToB when you approach the end of SoA.

As I said before - there is no way to know all possible bugs in ToB. Especially to us who don't have ToB.

    [Edit]
I repeat, play SoA areas with SoA installed ONLY (including OFFICIAL patch). Do not risk with ToB. Install ToB when you are about to finish SoA.

If you are going to reinstall... i'd suggest this

    Uninstall BG2 and ToB...

Then Install SoA, install the latest Patch from Interplay, install ToB, install the latest ToB patch...
