You may remember him for The Empire Strikes Back (most certainly the best movie in the Star Wars trilogy) but he directed many excellent movies.

    May he rest in peace.

I agree -- Kirshner did a fine job on Empire, and I was impressed with Never Say Never Again as well. May he rest in piece.

Oh, right, let's just gloss right over Robocop 2, eh? Rest in peace, I don't think so!

I'm kidding. An industrious guy with a filmography that long is bound to have a couple of turkeys under his belt.

I think we all have a few perfomances / incidents in our lives that we would rather not be remembered for. I hope his family is comforted by friends over the holiday season. Even if they are not Christian, it's really hard when everyone is all cheerful and you're still getting over such a loss.

I'm afraid that you don't get over losing someone when that person is really close to you and means the world to you.

Irvin Kershner did an incredible work with Never Say Never Again. It was made with a rather low budget (compared to an official Bond movie) and it was able to compete with the official James Bond. IMO it's a much better movie than Octopussy.
