How do the temples decide which of them will approach you? In my newest game my main character is a Cleric / Ranger, Neutral Good. I was under the impression that good clerics would be approached by Lathander, but instead I got Oisig and the Helmites. I seem to remember that as an evil Fighter / Cleric I got the temple of Talos. Did I do something different this time?

If you are a priest, you will be approached by one of the same alignment (good: Lathander, Neutral: Helm, evil: Talos). This leads into the stronghold quests iirc.

If you aren't you'll always be approached by the Helmites.

I think that you do this one mission for the Helmites and then get sent next-door to help out the Morninglord, and *then* start your stronghold quests.

Hmmm... This is strange, as you are part cleric. As RQ states, if you aren't a cleric, you will always be approached by a member of the Temple of Helm, regardless of your class or alignmnet. But in this case, you ARE a cleric. Did you by chance, already do the ranger stronghold? If you did that would explain it, as you can only get one stronghold (barring a mod, or the bugged fighter stronghold). So, if you already did the ranger stronghold, it would default to the non-stronghold script, meaning you'd be approached by members of Helm. If you haven't done the ranger stronghold yet, then I am baffled as to why the followers of the Morning Lord did not approach you.

IIRC you can't get the Cleric stronghold if you're a multi-class Cleric/Ranger. It is a bug.

Yes, Jathszu is correct--the original game is missing checks for cleric/rangers, so you get the default non-cleric option of Helm. Oversight's Cleric Kits component fixes this, but it has other changes which you may or may not want.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have not yet done the ranger stronghold, so I guess it's a bug. Oh well. There are some interesting things in G3's oversight mod so I might download it just in general, but I defeated the Unseeing Eye last night and don't especially feel like re-starting to get the cleric stronghold. The cabin in the trees will have to be enough this time.
