Very nice. I've become a huge fan of themed parties, using them all the time nowadays in my BG and IWD games. I feel that because I have a clearer vision of how I want the characters to develop I'm more invested in the game.

Depending on how much you want to role-play you can do things like keep Ghim and Slayn next to each other in formation or move them as a couple when you split up to explore...same with Parn and Etoh or Parn and Deedlit.

There are enough uber weapons around to give each of them a good version of their signature weapon. Later in the game you can melee most anything to death, but are you planning on using safer ranged attacks early on?

As far as Woodchuck goes, I don't see anything wrong with giving him a few more levels of fighter. IIRC you can get him to high master in dagger by level 6. Even level 9 for grandmastery need not be out of the question if you are playing on an XP-boosted difficulty level. Thieves level up quickly so you will recover your fighter levels soon enough.

On the other hand you have plenty of melee already but nobody else for thieving abilities early in the game. Traps start becoming an annoyance late in Dragon's Eye, so I would say you can comfortably get to level 6, but might want to reevaluate when you get there as to whether you feel it's worth it to go all the way to level 9. The other concern would be that while your fighter levels are dormant you will want to be putting proficiency points in something other than dagger, which is out of character and perhaps undesirable.

If you need some early XP several of the Shadows in the Vale respawn as long as you haven't killed Lysan. That was something I didn't really pay attention to until recently but can be a big help.
