i have recently moved through a couple of OSs and i have lost the windows install of my BG2 TOB
all files, save games mods dialog.2da override folders and the likes are stille there, but windows(this one at least) does not realise it is/or has it not installed.

so, if i where to move the current install folder so it, so it no longer is where it is now, and make a new install of BG2, just so windows knows it is installed
and then replace it with the previous folder(the one with patches, mods, savegames etc.)

so i wont have to install everything again(id' rather install bg2 than mods)
would that cause problems or otherwise corrupt my install perhaps?

i have thought about it and i can't see any problems with other than remember to (maybe) change the adresses for the the install and .exe files (ex: F:bad:programs\blackisle\BGII-SOA)

    [IMG] That should work fine.

by the sound of it it's just lacking the registry entries. Beyond that as long as the files aren't corrupted in the directory it should be fine. Should only need the .tlk, saves and override copied as a backup and reinstall into the same directory.

It shouldn't delete any extra folders either, so you might get away with simply renaming the files/folders. Don't hold me to that though, not sure what OS you're using :D
