    The sad thing is that critical acclaim means **** all in the way of us getting more PS:T-like games...

    Great they finally recognise its genius, and what do we get (the players) in the way of new games etc. **** all it's bloody annoying there's only one Planescape game when the setting lends itself to adventuring better than FR, Greyhawk, Ravenloft or anywhere else imho.

    Yeah :sosad:

    Someone should ask Chris Avellone to get off his ass and start another game! :D

    Think it this way: PS is among with retro classics whereas the "real" games are in a whole different category. :D

    Planescape: Torment's won a bunch of awards and a huge amount of critical acclaim as soon as it was released. It was never a case of the critics shunning it but the players loving it. Just the opposite.

    Well, the players who did get it loved it. I suppose the problem was that not enough people bought it immediately when it was released. There is no such thing as a sleeper hit in the gaming industry: by the time word of mouth had its impact and people were looking to buy the game, it was already unavailable and impossible to find.

    @Ziad

    Too true. I saw it around twice years ago but never picked it up. By the time I learned from here that it was really good, I had to order not FROM Amazon (they were sold out) but THROUGH Amazon to some obscure game shop.

    Somehow I doubt that Obsidian will be looking to make commerical failures in the near future - so the prospect of Chris Avellone designing a PS:T-y game seems remote... :(

    I wouldn't call PS:T a commercial failure, but a long-term investment, since it just took the game a few years to realize its potential.

    The problem is that Black Isle went bust in the meantime and stopped producing it...or other games like PS:T. :(

    Guys, we're not going to "get a PST sequel" because BIS is dead. Build a bridge and get over it.

    To one of the previous posters: Avellone is making a game. It's called Neverwinter Nights 2.
