OK, well, I've played Ascension a few times, and make a point of recruiting him to fight against Melissan at the Throne of Blood. Usually this goes off without a hitch, but a couple of times now I've had a problem whereby, the fight over, everyone gets to say their piece about whether the PC should ascend or not, and Balthazar's dialogue goes into a loop. The only way to get out of it is Alt-Tab (or Window key) to desktop, then close the app from the taskbar...then revert to a save from before recruiting Balthazar, and fighting him instead (poor guy!)

The first time I had it, I was playing Laufey's Edwin romance, and it happened that Balthazar's speech came right after Eddie's. Second time it happened, I was playing the Eddie romance again, so I figured it must be this mod. However, in my last game, it happened a third time. Eddie wasn't installed, but I was trying out Kelsey and it happened then. I don't think mod NPC romances are the problem as such, as I didn't get it with Angelo. I had a few elements of UB installed on the last two occassions, but not on the first (the first time it happened I had only the Edwin romance, a Viconia friendship mod for SoA, and the Iylos NPC. Initially I thought Iylos was probably to blame as he talks to Balthazar a fair bit, but it wasn't - even kicking him from party didn't fix it, and it's happened without him installed at all).

I'm at a loss, and wonder if anyone else has had this issue, and what was behind it.
