Hey folks, today on a whim, I decided to buy the classic Red Alert. However, i can´t get the sound to work. It is supposed to run under DOS and Win95, and I run on XP, so that might be the problem XD.

Anyhow, does anyone know how to get this to work, or know somewhere I can get a fix?

First, make sure you're running the Windows executable and not the DOS one. DOS games will not play with sound unless you use a sound emulator (VDMSound, DosBox, and so on)

If it is the Windows executable you are running, then play around with Compatibility Mode. From experience, Windows 95, 98 and ME modes all do the same thing, while NT and 2000 modes don't do much at all, but you might as well try them all. If nothing seems to work, then consider trying VDMSound.

Can't really think of something specific, as I never tried running RA on XP. I know Tiberian Sun and RA2 have no problems with XP (pre-SP2 at least)
