    Viewpoint: Is Trump faking it? Based on a solid history of his habit of lying, I believe this is probably a calculated political move and he likely doesn't have the virus at all.

    What do you think?

    Hmm. I would doubt that. If he were faking it, that would require the complicity of much of the staff at walter reed on top of those others near him who have reported being positive

    I just don't think that many people could pull it off.

    The thought has crossed my mind that he could certainly use a fake or mild infection to his political advantage, but like dmc said, this would have to be a relatively wide conspiracy, so unlikely.

    Yes, Dice, that's the problem with a serial liar, you don't know if you can ever believe anything he says.

    I choose to look at it logistically. He lies constantly, but this would require a level of complicity from too many people who simply do not have reason to have enough loyalty to him to carry the lie.

    I guess I don't see the advantage he could gain? He's behind in the polls so getting out on the campaign trail and holding rallies is surely to his advantage? Even if his is a mild case how does that help him?

    @Blackthorne TA The two main advantages I could see would be, not being able to attend future debates because he's "too sick", and possibly gaining the sympathy of voters who haven't decided who to vote for yet. Although to be honest, now that I've thought it through and given it some more consideration I don't actually think he's faking it. I also came across a theory that if he's too sick to do his duties they my might substitute another republican in the running who might have a better chance of winning than Trump. That would at least be an advantage to his party if not specifically him.

    If it had happened closer to the next Presidential Debate, I'd have believed it was a ploy to duck out of the new rules.
    As it stands, it doesn't seem to make sense to stage it now. Closet to the election maybe, but unless he's planning to come out and say "See, this whole Chinese Coronovirus is overblown. I went through it and came out just fine" and use it to justify opening up the economy, I don't see the point on the timing.
