[IMG] Well WotC has owned D&D for about 4 years now and they have done quit a bit to market the brand. Most feel that 3E is a great improvement over older editions but looking at the releases this year and what is planned for next years raised an important question, is WotC running out of new ideas.

I am certainly surprised that so far over half of the voters so far believe that Wizards is some greedy fat cat corporation. In my opinion, P&P RPGs are very much of a nice market, and it's not like they're the most popular thing in the world at the moment.

Yes, Wizards needs money. Any company does. Wizards needs money to introduce the game of D&D (and other games) to each newer age group of players to not just expand their market, but to make the game better for people. I truly believe that the people who designed 3E D&D (Mr. Cook, Mr. Reynolds, Mr. Williams) did have the best intentions in mind.

And, no, I do not believe Wizards has run out of ideas. People might think that stuff like Epic Level Handbook and Savage Species weren't too special (and they were rather weird, IMHO). But has anyone checked newer things by Malhavoc Press (Sword & Sorcerery stuff), Arcana Unearthed, and even the Wizards site for Web Enhancements and freebies?

I do not believe Wizards is out of breath. Some people just don't seem to be willing to look beyond their bookstore.

[IMG] If you've read any of the reviews WOTC did admit that 3.5E was thought up when 3E was justing being brought to the drawing board as a way to make some extra profit. I frankly find 3.5E a useless switch. Maybe my groups cheap and don't want to dig into our paychecks, but the changes in 3.5 are rather minute. :D
