[IMG] 1)I know there is always a 1 % chance if you pick pocket you will get caught. Is this cumulative, and does the amount of attempts effect your chances of success?
    2) Can anything disarm a trap besides a thief ?

You can easily get greater than 100% skill in pick pockets with Gloves Of Pickpocketing and a potion of Master Thievery. However, penalties to your pick pockets success are applied. A penalty should apply when you attempt to pick the pockets of a higher level character than yourself (I'm not sure whether this rule applies in BG2, however). The number of observers negatively impacts your ability to get away with it and there appears to be a significant penalty when shoplifting. If, despite all penalties, your chance of success is greater than or equal to 100%, there is still a 1% chance of failure.

As to whether anything other than a rogue can disarm traps, the simple answer is a qualified "no". Monks, clerics (and other characters who can cast Find Traps) and some familiars can SPOT traps, but they can't disarm them. However, in TOB the upgraded cat familiar appears to have a 60% find AND remove traps ability. Also, I believe that a mage or sorcerer with a Stoneskin up or a druid with Ironskins can set off a physical damage trap with no ill-effect other than the loss of a stoneskin.
