Oblivion worked like a charm, until recently.

Every time I entered the game and clicked on LOAD, the game crashed. I uninstalled and did a fresh installed and enjoyed the opportunity to move Ob to my 500GB drive.

I did the Ob install, then SI, then patched it. It gets ugly when I try to fire the game up - I get this charming message:

Google didn't brought me any worthwhile info. Bethesda didn't helped either.

    So, WTF?

*EDIT* Fixed the problem by uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling, patching, rebooting, though I still have no damn clue what the problem was.

    Huh.

This sounded like you had some master files/mods/plug-ins vs. save game conflict; did the save game in question have any mods you might not have moved over and activated when you started using that nice new 500Gb?

The error message sounds VERY familiar - I think I was getting it once or twice with Morrowind, too... :hmm:

The other issue is BethSoft's games are very selfish - I've seen plenty of fansites recommend not only shutting down AV, IM, etc, and all other apps, but also going into Windoz' guts and disabling nonessential services.

Oh, another thought is the possibility that when you moved, and installed Ob, then SI, and patched, maybe you used the 'Ob alone' patch instead of the 'Ob +SI' patch? Whtver.

Glad you got it sorted out, tho! Cya 'round in Cyrodiil! :D
