yeah. Just a small question to all those whove had slightly more experience at ALFA.

I just recently joined, having gotten a better internet connection, and been clearing out my CDs and found my much loved NWN.

I started a thief character called Thistler. Where would the best place be to level?

(I'm sorry if a topic like this has been posted before)

[IMG] Hmm...Levelling, levelling. Best place to level, yes....

Frostbite, I'm sorry to say that levelling is a very slow process in ALFA. Roleplaying is needed to gain experience, as well as killing monsters. The other thing to keep in mind is the horrendous death rate of characters in ALFA. I've gone through at least 6 characters myself already!

I've only had one character reach level 2...And I've been playing since it went live. I have however, seen pc's as high as 5th level...But I have no idea how they did it! Good luck, and happy adventuring...

Oh! You may want to take a look at the ALFA community forum, that may help you understand the realm as well! Have fun!

    Thanks Bel.
Yeah I've been hanging around the forums for a while and I had gathered that leveling wasn't exactly a quick affair, but thanks for the information :)

    Cheers!

[IMG] Ahh, some competition, eh? I do not take kindly to other rogues trying to muscle in on me business...I'd watch yerself in the Falls! ;) :p

(Actually, there are few decent rogues in Daggerdale, most people go with the burly, and hit point laden, fighter types...If Rem dies, I think I might make a sorcerer...and call him Taluntain ;) teehee)

I've been on the ALFA page today checking players.
(I'm afraid i'll be kicked out ads i havent never been online with my char.).

And i've seen the most popular class is rogue. I started to wonder why is that... perhaps it would be the survival skills rogue has. They sure do come in handy it seems as there's such a high mortality rate.

And i've been exploring my profile there and as stupid as i am i clicked "retire char". Should've known better than to click such obvious buttons  .

Now i'm wondering what exactly did it do? If i can play normaly with druid i've created before. Such stuff...

[IMG] If you hit retire character...You may have to make a new one...If you can get into the game...Just go into town and chat some people up!

The greatest adventures start that way!

If you've never been online with your character, then there was no character to be retired. Look at the stickies in the main ALFA forum. There's one that explains how to set up your profile to play and what retiring a character means.

Gothmog (and any other newer players), before you go online, take a few moments to browse the ALFA forums. Of particular importance are the ALFA Charter and the ALFA player's manual - don't worry, neither is a particularly long read ;) But, they will give you a lot of information that will help you learn how to play in the ALFA online world. For example, it is generally frowned upon to have your character running through the game - characters should walk, except under certain circumstances (other players will most definitely point this out to you). It is also considered extremely rude and very bad form to talk Out Of Character, except when completely necessary. These, and many other topics, are covered in the forums, and the charter and APM. Reading through them before playing could save you a lot of embarassment :) The reason these rules and guidelines exist is so players like us can log on to ALFA and expect a true-to-form, high-quality roleplaying experience - and it works ;) So please take the time to review these items before playing, and then give it all you've got!
