[IMG] I bought NWN a long time ago, and couldn't play it because my sound card wasn't compatible.(It runs silently). Is there a new patch to allow the game to be played on such a sound card? I tried everything else, modifying the install/settings etc. I'm about to get anew soundcard, but just want to check that there aren't new patches yet. Any thoughts?

Patches has been coming out on a regular basis, so I guess there are new patches for you to download if you start the autopatch function on the menu.

Are you using the most recent soundcard drivers etc..?

What's your soundcard? If you tell us, we can probably provide better help. If its something extremely old, such as a Soundblaster 16 (!) I doubt there's any chance of it working.

Its a "turtle beach" something or other. I'm using the latest drivers, etc. I bought the game when it came out and it was apparently a common problem with these cards, which came "stock" on Dell's. I was going to replace the card, but I fgigured I would just check to see if there was any known patch progree. I'll give the latest patch a try, and see what happens. Otherwise I'll have to get a new card. My PnP group may be disbanding, so I'll need a fix.

Turtle Beach Santa Cruz? LOL! I have that, and have had that since Summer of 2001. What exactly is the problem with it?

The Santa Cruz gives "warbly sound" in all the Infinity Engine games (unfixable problem) but audio is crystal clear in NWN.

I think it must be a driver problem. Bioware will not be making any changes to the sound protocols of NWN, it's "fixed" just like the underlying graphics engine.

I don't have a Santa Cruz after all, I have a "Analog Devices SoundMAX". I've updated the driver and everything, and it still doesn't work, so I think I need a new soundcard?
