[IMG] Just a copy of what I posted about this game on the front page - which is basically all there's known about it at this point:

The newest issue of Computer Games Magazine has a brief article (page 52) about an upcoming Dungeons & Dragons PC RPG called The Temple Of Elemental Evil.

Based on the classic 1985 D&D pen-and-paper module (of which there also exists a 3rd Edition D&D version) from its creator Gary Gygax, the article states that the developer of the game will be Troika, who previously developed the "steampunk" RPG Arcanum.

Unfortunately at this point this is all that is known about it, since there is no official website yet, and no public announcement. We have opened a new forum for the game on our message boards though, so feel free to start speculating about it there.

We'll keep you posted about the game here as more news comes along. And, needless to say, Sorcerer's Place will be covering this new game.

[IMG] Sounds Great, if they do it similar to Arcanum it will be great!

I hope the game will combine good hearted hack and slash with good dialogue. Hopefully they'll try to simulate PS:T more than IWD or NWN.

Also, hopefully they'll realise that NWN was a flop and shouldn't be repeated.

Well, we'll see how it all pans out.

[IMG] Hmmm... I think it won't be able to compare to the hype other games such as IWD2 and NWN have recieved because of the predecessors they have, depending on information that comes, I may/may not decide to comment further.

(yay! 2nd post in new forum!)

    Angry Edit: :flaming:
    --------------------
Contrary to popular belief, Gopher DID
have first post (after Tal), but the others
    stole his rightfully acclaimed place.

    And really annoyed him.
    ...
    I blame Taluntain for this.

[IMG] Hehe, I stole it! :D

To add on to my post, Hopefully they use 3e Rules, and not 1e Rules like the Original TToEE

[IMG] Lol, are game designers really strapped for good names anymore?

And here I thought Attack of the Clones was stretching it.

And you young Temple of Elemental Evil (TEE!), we will watch your career with great interest.

I don't have enough information to speculate about the game specifically. I will say that I'm a bit skeptical (I was the same way about NWN and IWD2 though so...) However I'll say this: if they don't use 3E rules I won't touch it!

Please God don't let it be 3D...

Oh and Big_B, it hasn't even been named yet, this is just the project title.

So many questions...so many questions. I'm most interested in seeing how this will all play out. But my first and formost question I will be awaiting and searching for an answer to: how'd they get a DnD liscence/who's their publisher?

[IMG] Mmmh, they plan to release this game through Infogrames near the end of 2003, so that would be March 2004, I guess. ;)

In P&P-style, the whole story is set in 'the lands of Grayhawk', right? Maybe a silly question, but is that in Faerun or am I completely lost? Never heard of the village of Hommlet and the shire of Nulb before...

    I think it'll be very old-school.

    And very good.

    [IMG] Oh, Yes! :D
I still have my copy of that 1985 campaign. :book:

I remember once that winter I woke up my platoon at 3 am and sent them on a long skiing trek in full gear. While waiting for them to arrive I sat in a vehicle studying this campaign. That cold and dark night transformed into a great day with clear skies. Ah, memories! :)

I'll be all over this game like... ketchup on a hot dog.

Greyhawk was the first campaign setting. Faerun came later to give people a more magic heavy world to play with.

I'm looking forward to it, but Please, not another PoR 2. The music in that game still irritates me.
Something fresh and new would be great.

Big B, I agree, corny title.

Okay ... what about Vault of the Drow next? :) If you're gonna dig up the past, might as well get the best one.

Seriously, I'm excited about this. I never was all that keen on the Forgotten Realms world. Drizzit is just so last Tuesday ....

I was tempted to post a "Favorite Party / Race / Class Combination" thread in this forum, just to be the first ... but I figured I'll leave that insanity for someone less mature than I. (scan's the room for someone less mature, notices no one, and goes to post a bogus thread ;) )
