Here are today's Neverwinter Nights forum highlights. Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context. Bear in mind also that the posts presented here are copied as-is, and that any bad spelling and grammar does not get corrected on our end.

    Georg Zoeller, Designer

HotU: Level Cap is 40. I don't know the current number of pickable feats (changing constantly), but its definitly more than 30

    David Gaider, Designer

HotU Plot: I'm not sure that there's a description of any plot that couldn't be reduced to its core elements and ridiculed in some way. For what it's worth, however, the major plot in HotU revolves around doing things and finding out about things rather than retrieving items.

Quote: I'm asking this because long ago you said that you wouldn't include Beholders with the original campaign because of polygons limitations (since Beholders have a spherical shape), so what changed your mind at all?

They're not spherical so much as... well... semi-spherical. 3rd edition changed the shape of the Beholder a bit. Anyhow, one of the reasons we didn't include it originally was indeed the whole "flailing eyestalks" thing and getting it to look good without using too many polygons. I would suspect the reason we can do it now, more easily, was the introduction of skinmeshes very late in NWN's development. We needed them for dragon wings but didn't have time to use them for much else... like flailing eyestalks.

Quote: Oh, what's a spider demon look like?

    Like a bebilith.

Quote: whats up with the drider models? are they wearing armor, and if so or if not, are you going to have variations of them like stingers

I think there is at least a less-armored variation.

Quote: Say, Senor Gaider..... now that you're around.... any comment on the level 30 vs. level 40 level cap confusion thats been going around for the past hour? (seems gamespy has been editing their "preview review")

Level 40 is the correct cap, but the HotU campaign won't get you anywhere near that. Mid-twenties, more likely.

Quote: I'm guessing the chance of a beholder poo placeable is out of the question too huh?

    Pretty much.

Quote: and correct me if I'm wrong but that half-orc looking thing standing on the cliff next to the beholder sure looks like its holding a FALCHION

Consider yourself corrected. No falchion. And as far as the comments on the campaign are concerned, we certainly could make it a linear progression from race A to race B and so on and so forth... but we know that's not what you guys are interested in. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the options available to you (including, yes, the one type of Evil option we usually say we can never do).

Quote: Thats the 2nd dance of joy in 3 days you ruined for me now!

    It's a gift.
