    You can with Goodkind, his books are nothing but ultra-right wing political pamphlets thinly disguised as pretty crappy fantasy novels (if you ask Goodkind himself he isn't writing fantasy but philosophical treatises or something).

    I am going to bring up some authors that are outside the big 3-4 (Martin, Erikson, Hobb, Jordan if you have not read them do so, NOW!) and that is Joe Abercrombie, Scott Lynch and Glen Cook not unknowns at all but some very classy writing.

    I agree with the Goodkind bit, allthough only regarding his last books. Books 1-5 were fantasy, and didn`t have too much political stuff in them. Then he competely lost track.

    Not really, bad writing is still bad writing, regardless of ideology. Goodkind is dreadful stuff. Rand, his mentor, is a fine writer, despite being a "royal beach."

    Yeah. Regardless of how you feel about gun control, using the banning of fire in a medieval society as a metaphor for it is beyond stupid.
