    Hi
I've downloaded the tactics mod and installed the "acid ninja" encounter... *spoilers!* what the hell is wrong with this guy? i can't cast spells, because his acid whatever will kill my mages, and if they pop out of invisiblty he'll go after them, and i can't whack him because my fighters kill themselves with his *undispelable* fireshield and acid thingy... I can't even pre-buff, because he appears when i travel between areas... not that i would know what to cast. I ended up CTRL+Ying him to well deserved oblivion... *end of spoilers*
from stuff i've heard, this isn't the only mod that creates crazy immpossible encounters... so my question is, how do you beat these guys? it seems to take a completely diffrent kind of thinking than what you used in the original game. if i'm not into crazy nearly immpossible battles, should i uninstall the mod?

You shouldn't expect mods to be balanced...
Tactics is also very unbalanced and there are many more mods out there with this "problem".
If you don't like the mods, uninstall them for a better gaming experience.

You might try normal bolts fired from the flaming crossbow (searing or Firetooth, can't recall which). Since PFMW is his primary defense, the normal bolts get through and do some fire damage to him.

Protection From Acid scrolls. It'll probably be the only time you'll use them. Aergar's Hide, Shadow Dragon Scale, whatever'll get you acid defense.

As for Tactics as a whole, it's not like it pretends to be anything it isn't. Personally, I like most of it. Why play if not for the challenge?

For the sheer fun of butchering thousands of creatures with the most powerful character you can make ]:->

Anyway, thanks for all the help.I'm not sure how i'm gonna get the scrolls though, since my only save if i move to another area he'll appear.. anyway, it looks like i'm going to uninstall the mod... a while ago i tried the ascenation's finale battle... i almost broke my keyboard after banging on it out of frustration :X

Yeah, that last battle's nasty. You could either uninstall it, head back to town, get the scrolls, and then reinstall it. Or, if that's too much like work, jsut do what I'd do: use SK, or item codes to summon them. Problem solved.

And it's like I always say: Inside of every role-player, there's a powergamer screaming for a +10 Vorpal Sword of Slaying.

I disagree. The better mods are extremely well balanced. It's simply a matter of finding the right ones amidst a sea of unbalance.

Yep. Just making a totally wildly laughably unbalanced mod (10 spells in a trigger? WTF???) just because the classes in the game are apparently too powerful...its a joke.

I actually LIKE some portions of it, like the Improved Twisted Rune and Improved Copper Coronet. But stuff like those Duergar in Chateau Irenicus, those damn Lichs...bah, it's a joke, is what it is...

If you think Kuroisan is bad, try Improved Faldorn. I didn't know what I would have done if my PC wasn't a Bard. Given the choice, I would have torched the Druid Grove to destroy the source of her power. She can actually kill an unkillable (via game specs) character. The only character who'd be able to kill her is a Druid(/Fighter) well beyond level 14 - which is ridiculous.

i couldnt beat him in a non-cheesy way. he cant do anything about invisibility iirc, so exploit that. he uses so many scrolls (i killed him once via cheating and looted his body, i found 4 or more protection from magical weapons scrolls) that waiting for them to wear off is quite boring. my cheesy way --> acid scrolls+invisibility potions+hack&slash
Improved Faldorn sucks, i couldnt beat her even with cheese
