Hello, folks. So, recently, I've been playing through the Black Pits II: Gladiators of Thay but came across an issue. When doing the "Changing Faces" quest for this module, I find myself potentially stuck, possibly due to a bug or glitch. Brodle seems to always disappear after a match and even if I CLUA console him in, he seems to reset to a certain time in the game. I also have managed to (temporarily) restore Dulf Ebonbeard's sanity and talked to him about helping make the scroll to transfer Bannor out of that Adamantine Golem body he's in but the next time I use that salve on him after a match, it's as if I haven't talked to him about it on top of Brodle being missing.

Any pointers to help fix this issue?

This AI answer I got from Copilot might actually be helpful?

"It seems like you're encountering some known bugs in the "Changing Faces" quest of Black Pits II: Gladiators of Thay. Here are a few pointers that might help:

    1. Brodle's Disappearance: This issue has been reported by other players. Using the CLUA console to bring him back is a workaround, but as you've noticed, he resets to a previous state. Some players suggest saving the game immediately after summoning him and then reloading if he disappears again. 1

    2. Dulf Ebonbeard's Sanity Reset: This might be tied to the game's scripting. Some players have found that progressing through other quests or matches before revisiting Dulf can sometimes resolve the issue. Alternatively, you might try reloading an earlier save and approaching the quest differently. 2

    3. Scroll for Bannor: If Dulf isn't progressing with the scroll creation, some players have reported success by ensuring all quest-related items are in their inventory and interacting with him multiple times. If this doesn't work, you might need to rely on the CLUA console to advance the quest manually. 3
For more detailed discussions and potential fixes, you can check out (1) this Steam thread or the (2) Beamdog forums."

Adding to the above, if all else fails, have you tried the Beamdog support? Back when I played the original BG I encountered game-breaking bugs a couple of times and BioWare's support asked me to mail them my savegame and they fixed certain global variables and mailed me the fixed savegame back so I could continue playing.

Adding to Tal's point, fixing a savegame is something any experienced modder can do as well, so if Beamdog support doesn't help, one of the guys in the modding community probably can. I would suggest either Beamdog forums or G3 forums.

If all else fails, I can probably help you as well, but I've never played either of the Black Pits modules, so it would be better to find someone familiar with the quest in question.

That's the problem. It seems 90-99% of the people on the internet hasn't done such and therefor has no idea. :(

Update: Just beat the last fight of Tier 2. Brodle approached me with the items needed. Gave Dulf another dose of the salve and he got right to work on the scroll after negotiating his somewhat steep fee of 12k gold down to 8k. Hopefully, within the next 1 to 5 fights (or at the most, by the time of the final boss fight), he'll have that scroll ready.
