need help...assertion problem

    [​IMG] hey guys

    ok, so after lots of patience i got to the severed hand. actually i'm in the solonar tower right now. solonar tower is divided into three levels, i think. first being talking to the priestess. and second is being attacked just as you ascend the flight of stairs.

    my problem is that after i battling with those pack of shadowed elves i did a quick save as a precaution of my existing problem running IWD. my quick save at that level(2nd level, solonar tower)was good. however, when i looted the chest near the stairs and got a warhammer, a gem, and a healing potion; and did another quick save as i'm about to ascend to the third level. as mentioned in my earlier post, IWD returned to my desktop. i though, ok just be patient. however, when i loaded my quick save i got an error message: Assertion failed in ObjCreature.cpp at line number 11424. what gives???

    i thought i had enough problems already with IWD keep returning to my desktop. but with this, i can't even play the game.

    any input will be greatly appreciated. by the way, tried loading other saved games and it loaded just fine no error message.

    Sounds like a corrupted quick save file... Go back to an auto save or one of your other save files. This is all I could find about a similar problem:

    Q: CRASH WHEN IMPORTING BALDUR'S GATE CHARACTERS: When I try to import Baldur's Gate, or Tales of the Sword Coast characters, I receive "An assertion failed in ObjCreature.cpp" message. Why?

    A: Unfortunately, Icewind Dale does not support Baldur's Gate 1 characters, nor will it support those from Baldur's Gate 2. Both games have different file formats for the characters, and they are incompatible.

    So given the above, it looks like a bad save file...

    huh???? i'm not using any characters from baldur's gate. don't even own one.

    yeah i guess shit happens, as i've said you can't alway sit back and relax. but why now???? i mean i've used a character editor in severed hand. nope i didn't use it before that's why i had a heck of a battle in last level of dragon's eye. however, in the severed hand, i used the character editor(dale keeper from iron works) and have gone out to clean out levels 1, 2, and 3 of severed hand. so if shit happens. but why only now that's i'm inside one of the towers??? the solonar tower to be precise.

    [​IMG] Who knows... Dale Keeper does have an option to fix save games though. Look for it and try to apply it to your savegame.

    Also, download the newest version of Dale Keeper from http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/IWD/index_editors.php

    Last time I checked, ironworks had practically all tools and editors out of date. Stick to Sorcerer's Place.
