    According to some indications:

I have to admit some ambivalence about this. The Weave and Mystra were part of what gave FR its unique stamp. But always bringing back Mystra and Bane and everybody else, no matter how many times, seems to inspire the same kind of cash-grab cynicism latent in all those Superman and Spiderman deaths.

As I understood it, Mystra was originally not merely a goddess of magic, but a goddess that is magic - the sentience of magic, an avatar of the Weave. I found that a very cool idea, really, and never quite understood why it was necessary for it to "possess" mortal bodies like what happened with Midnight - perhaps it became "corrupted" during Karsus' folly or even before that.

Anyway, the way Mystra's death was described, it made little sense that there would be no new deity of magic. That is imo a matter for Ao to decide - Shar should have no influence on it, especially as she lost the portfolio of shadow magic. The whole "spellplague" element made a lot more sense if Mystra was grievously wounded, driven insane and/or comatose instead of killed, just as the spellplague was magic wildly out of control rather than "dying". Either way, something coming back makes sense. At least, way more sense than killing her off did...

According to what I've read there are now 3 different D&D FR gods which have taken on magic as part of what they handle-so no one of them has complete control/responsibility for it.

They are Selune (the good lyconthrope lady), the head Elf guy, and (I think) Sseth (think evil snake).

I actually couldn`t care less anymore. After what they did with the 4th edition, and the FR campaign, I have quit d&d alltogether. It just seriously put me off the entire franchise. Running into Cyclops that has 1 hp just so i can feel badass, is just too lame.
