My favorite author is Terry Pratchett, the author of the seminal Discworld series. IS there anyother Pratchett fans out there?

Yes there are. Myself for one. Have a look in the 'Which book are you reading currently?' topic and you will find quite a few people reading Pratchett.

Making of a Mage is the best (read: most entertaining) single book I can think of. But Ed Greenwood's other books are only good to mediocre.

So although I say this clearly too soon, I think my vote's on Richard A. Knaak. The Legend of Huma was his first book afterall, and although I just started reading it today, the style gripped me instantly. While other Dragonlance books were a bit on the boring side with an intriguing story, this writer is the first one who thus far appears to have just the right style for someone like me. He is good with describing combat, bringing out emotion and immersion, can describe characters with very intriguing personalities, and generally can weave the story so that you don't want to interrupt it before getting it all the way through.

foradasthar, if you like the legend of huma, then try is warcraft books, "day of the dragon" and "the war of the ancients trilogy" starting with "well of eternity". And I agree with you he is a great author, definitely one of the best I have read.

I don't think I have a favorite Author, there are just to many I had to pick from, but some of my favorites would include Richard A. Knaak, Colleen McCullough and Terry Pratchett. but there are so many more

Hmm, have to check on them then. I'll be done with the Legend of Huma by tomorrow, and I must say it's been as excellent as I thought it would be.

Pratchett is one of the best authors out there. Witty as anything and creates 'realistic' characters in his very unrealistic world.

Can someone tell me if all of Terry PRatchett's books are standalone or does he have a series of books like Jordan's WoT?
