I play online with some friends every friday and I wanted to know if it would be possible to import a different character into that game. I wasn't sure if it was possible because that is a saved game on my friend's server so I wasn't sure if this could be done. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Yes, you can import a different character into his game, but if your character has either completed quests that his character hasn't, or if you are carrying a plot item that he shouldn't have yet, expect there to be weird problems. Some of which will force you to be damned creative to get around. :D also, I'm pretty sure it will start your character at the first part of the chapter. The easy fix there is just to use your stone to warp to the party leader (which is free). have you guys made it past chapter 1 yet?

There's not really a way to import a new character. If you're playing the game as a server vault game, all of the characters are stored within the server vault on your friend's PC. If you want to add a character, you'll have to send the new character to your friend and have him add it to the server vault. If done correctly, you should be able to choose your new character or your current character when you join the game.

@BigStick - what do you mean by Server Vault game?

Some friends and I have played through all of Chapter 1 & 2 of HOtU, with my friends changing their character almost every other time we played. The only thing i would need on my system (that ran the server) was the portrait files if they used custom ones. Other than that, it worked pretty well. So I am confussed by your answer.

Well, there are two ways you can host a game. In one of them, you only provide the module and the other players connect and use the characters that are on their comp, in that mode every player keeps his character(s) on his own comp. Another way of hosting is the server vault method, with that one the characters are stored on the comp that is used as server and so only characters in the vault on the server may be used to play in the module. This is sometimes done to prevent hacked or modded characters to enter the game.
