I noticed something I didn't see explained anywhere. In caves and ruins as well as some other spots I see a white X. I finally realized that it means there is a quest related to the area. Handy bit of info to know if you are like I am and like to wander into caves, tombs, etc.

If you mean the white X on the map, it's actually the spot where you used the spell 'mark'. It has nothing to do with a quest related there.

The only time I noticed it was in areas that did seem to be quest related. But maybe I used mark. I'll take another look. Don't really need it if that is all it is. Mostly I mark near or in the Balmora Mage Guild.

Yeah, the X is just a Mark. Another one of those things the manual doesn't tell you about so you have to figure it out for yourself. The idea of being quest-related actually isn't that big a jump, since you're probably going to put your Mark near a quest-giver for a quick zap-back, but it is just the Mark that you've set. MW has NOTHING to mark quest locations, which sadly makes for a lot of searching the countryside. :shame:
