Although I'm an old hand at RPG's I've never modded a game before. I'm interested in installing them but I'm not into cheats. Can someone out there help me with what the best mods are, how to install them, and in what order to install them so as not to cause CTD's? Any advice is appreciated.

EDIT: Oh BTW I have the 2cd version and have yet to install an updated patch so any advice on that would help this basher out immensely :D Thanks

There aren't that many mods for Torment and most are listed here on SP... as for what's "best", that's always very relative and largely dependent on what you're looking for.

With the 2CD version, do NOT install the version 1.1 patch. Your game already has that patch, installing it again will mess up your installation.

I've tried all the older Torment mods except for the trio of new ones (which aren't up on SP yet). As for the older mods, here's some comments on each:

Platter's fixpack: this fixes a large number of little problems with the game (items not matching description, spells, dialogues, etc) and was very good to have.

Restoration Pack: this seemed like a good idea, and some of the components are good, but others are a bit problematic. It adds for example two cheat items for no good reason and as such loses some value as a "restoration" pack. Some of its components are also not compatible with Platter's fixpack.

Platter's Tome O' Cheats: straightforward cheating mod, as the name implies. Never tried it.

Platter's armor mod: Adds some armors to the game and the ability for TNO to wear them. Some armors are buggy and all in all the mod imbalances the game quite a bit (it makes TNO much more powerful).

Candlestick Quest: this one's pretty good, mainly because it adds very little to the game but instead reactivates a quest that was already there in the original game files. As such it really fits very well with the rest of the game.

Leprechaun Annah & Easter Egg Morte: these mods are quite fun, but I wouldn't have them for the entire playthrough, as having Annah walking around in Leprechaun outfit does give the game a different atmosphere.

Now I've not tried Qwinn's three new mods, but they seem to replace the fixpack, the restoration pack and the tweak pack. As they're much more recent than any of these mods I'd assume they're in better working order than the older mods I mentioned here. If I had to start a new game now I'd go for Qwinn's fixpack and unfinished business and install no other mods.
