    BG1 items do not use the 'enchantment' field at all, because there are few creatures that need +x weapons to hit. The few that do, such as the wolfweres in TotSC, use other item flags such as 'magical,' 'cold-iron' or 'silver' to determine if a weapon can hit. BG1 items have their enchantment set to 0.

    As such, the Heavy Crossbow in BG1 has an enchantment of 0--this is also true in Tutu, as its item file is imported from BG1 rather than using the existing BG2 version. In BG2, it's coded as a +5 weapon, but it still won't hit Kangaxx. The ammo needs to be +4, not the launcher.

    This applies to all ranged weapons that shoot projectiles. The enchantment of the ammo determines what it can hit. The hit and damage bonuses of the launcher only give bonus to THAC0 and damage.

    Yes, it's the ammo that determines the outcome, but I thought you were asking for the coding on the weapon. I did not know the coding wasn't on BG1 weapons. So yeah, it doesn't matter what the weapon is coded in determining what it can hit (except certain weapons that don't require ammo like Gesen and Everard).

    Well, it depends on what you want, as always. If you don't help him you can get 2 of these +1/+3 bastard swords (1 from Aldeth + 1 from a house in Ulgoth's Beard) and the +5 heavy crossbow. If you do help him you can get 3 bastard swords (pickpocket 1 from Aldeth, 1 reward from Aldeth in BG + 1 from a house in Ulgoth's Beard). IMHO two is more than sufficient.

    Well, you also miss out on a TON is XP if you side with the druids. I think you get 4,000 XP for killing the main druid, 120 XP for each of the minor druids, and then a 2,000 XP bonus when talking to Aldeth after defending him.

    Then once you get to the Merchants League, there are probably at least a dozen dopplegangers there to kill, and they're 420 XP each. Plus, I'm sure you get a bonus after that as well for completing the quest.

    And geez, how come people actually want to kill Aldeth (I'm getting a complex over this!).
