    When I get really frustrated with spell transcribing it's time for the ol' CLUAConsole:CreateItem("scrlxx") trick. I try, of course, to use it sparingly. ;)

    I have never cheated to create a scroll after failing to transcribe. No spell is so vital or rare that you can't carry on without it. To me, it takes the risk (and fun) out of the game if I do that.

    Urgh, I thought anyone with 20 int had 100% chance scribbing scroll, so I said to myself "Oh why bother with potions, just slide the bar to easy and be done with it" -.-

    Btw, I just did a quick little test on my wild mage - 18 int.
    At lv2, he still managed to success with at least 7 out of 10 lv9 scrolls.
    At lv31, he still failed 1-3 out of 10 lv1 scrolls. I reloaded 5 times and not even once did I success all 10 scrolls in a row.
    So yeah I'm pretty sure that caster level doesn't matter, you guys are just paranoid :D

    @Starwalker

    Now I really feel like flattered. :o Thank you! :heh: To tell you the truth I never pictured myself as a powergamer, yep, this was not my intention, BUT if one wants to survive all those 'make it even harder!' mods, I guess he/she has little choice but to do at least a little 'Powergaming'. :good:

    @Minh So

    You may be right, one can never say if BG2 implemented that scribing different levels of spells rule into the game. According to pure 2E, I guess there was such a rule, but there are many rules not implemented in BG2, like wis saving throw bonuses, 18 int for level 9 spells etc. etc.

    2nd edition had two things against the percentage chance to learn spells. Being a specialty mage and doing one not of your school. And doing scrolls higher than your casting level. made for more holding onto scrolls of high level until you could transcribe them in table top because you didn't know when you'd see another.

    Specialty mages got a bonus to learning from their specialty school though. I don't remember anything about low level spells being easy to learn though.

    @silverstar. I wasn't joking about that goblin shaman. Specially once you complained that it was getting too easy.

    On a related note, I just had Edwin join my party and for some reason he can't transcribe/read a Stoneskin scroll. Since when can't conjurers use spells of this school? I'm almost certain that in previous games he was able to use Stoneskin. Maybe one of the mods I've installed changed the rules? Cripes, it's tough keeping track of all these mods.
