Now I'v started Playing IWD again with a four person party all multy or dual classes, and I had planed to dual my thief into a mage ad lvl 6, which i did. Now checking the manual and my foggy memory I came to the conclusion that a thief/conjurer would be a good choice, since Conjures supposedly only loses Divination, the problem is that didn't happen, my Conjurer could easily pick Divinations spells and write them in his spellbook. instead evocation was restricted for me.
So to see if I might have screwed up, I tried to start a new game and make a pure class conjurer, but still he could take Divination but not evocation.
So my question is, did I miss something or is this a bug? and if it is a bug, is there a way to fix it?.

If you have Heart of winter, then the opposite school for a conjurer is invocation... they changed it for game balance.

Yup; I prefer the new magic school oppositions. Before there was really no reason to pick any pure-class wizard other than a conjurer and now the different specialists are significantly different characters. Jolly good...

True, Conjurer seemed like the only good choice, now all schools have their strength and weaknesses. I still think Neck-Romancer is the best choice for my thief-mage

Personally, I'd have picked illusionist. It's nice to have some illusion spells to bail your thief out in emergencies. I usually have a dedicated necro for nuking power/skeleton summoning, but then in your small party youd probably want to combine the two characters as a single class mage would be a bit vulnerable. An Illusionist/thief & necro is a a luxury suited only to 6 person parties :D
