Luck?!?!??!

    What I wanted to know is what does luck do?
    It just says increases luck, what is that suppose to mean?!!?
    Is it absolutely useless?

    Did you find that Ioun stone?
    Squirrel killer you! :p

    The luck spell increases a thief's chances to succeed at stuff (5% ???), like disarming traps.

    I think that stone might bestow a permanent luck spell, but I'm not sure.

    Check your thief's stats after equipping it.

    [​IMG] The luck increases all the characters rolls by 5%.
    Although, its effect is not displayed in the characters menu except in case of thief skills.

    That's weird I got a mail that says it's only used in saving throws?

    I don't know the exact cases where it is used, but it will affect saving
    throws against certain effects.

    Yes, it's a hoax. Maybe some unofficial mod added it, but it doesn't exist in the official game or expansion.

    There are some items that don't normaly appear in the game but can be warped in:

    SCRL1R - Wraith Form
    SCRLIZY - Scroll of Summon Cow
    SPEC01 - Amulet of haste,blur, and immunity to fear
    SPEC02 - Ring of Haste, immunity to normal weapons
    SBLADE - similar to Xan's Moonblade, 50% Fire prot., +1 AC
    PLAT98 - Golden Plate Mail(Phoenix guards)
    MAGEAMUL - Amulet of Full Globe of invulnerability
    MAGEBRAC - Bracers of Missile avoidance

    Many more...

    I could have sworn that Ioun stone was among them.
    I can't find the number so maybe I was mistaken. :o

    I'll have to test everything again the next time I play BG1.

    Of course some of those items appear in the game, but most are equipped on NPCs or monsters, and not meant for players to ever see.

    I used Shadowkeeper to try to import the "lucky" stone into my inventory, but it wasn't there at all. So I think it's a hoax...

    If it is, it's a great one, because it changed a lot of nice players in armies of sadistic squirrel killers.
    Think about the roleplaying side: you kill innocent animals and you are rewarded? Nonsense.

    It was a long standing and widely accepted hoax.

    The unofficial mod 'Dark Side of the Sword Coast' added in Mopap the chirping squirrel who would give you a ring of luck, which was a play on the original hoax.
