Just got Morte back after Lothar had him skull-napped. His magic tooth, along with all the other junk he happened to be carrying, is gone. Broke into Lothar's two shelves, but just skulls there. Is Morte's venom tooth gone for good? Should I reload to where I was just coming in to the Lower Ward and Meta-game and carry Morte's venom tooth for awhile, or are there other good teeth I'll be able to find for the guy?

What happened was that Morte conveniently dropped all of his stuff when he got kidnapped, in case he was carrying anything important. So hopefully it will be just south of the entrance into Lower Ward. There might actually be item decay after a while, I can't remember... so hopefully it hasn't been too long since he got kidnapped.

IIRC, Morte drops his inventory when he's kidnapped.
He drops it at these coordinates:
X=741 Y=2114 (you can see the current coordinates of the cursor by pressing the "L" key on your keyboard)
If the stuff that he had when he was kidnapped is not there, that means it's gone for good and your best bet is to reload.

Thanks, I just did a reload anyway and quickly redid all the quests up to that point. Finally found a use for Soego's skull that I'd been carrying around for awhile.

As far as I remember, items lying on the ground disappear after 24 hours of game time. If you place them in a container, they remain there indefinitely.

Odd. In my game, nothing that I dropped on the ground ever vanished. That may be a result of using Platter's fixpack, although I think it's only supposed to fix bugs.
