    My mate won tickets to go and see Nelly but no Live 8, all I've heard is ppl have been scamming on ebay as usual for this...

    Ebay have closed down all sales of Live 8 tickets after Geldof made a lot of noise about it.

    Tickets aren't required for the Philly show since it's going to be held on a street. Good thing I'm not interested in the majority of the Philly lineup, so I'm not even tempted to join the mob scene.

    Unfortunately, it means going ANYWHERE within 5 miles of downtown - including the Zoo - is out of the question. Sorry, Arlyn, we'll have to find somethng else to do that day. :(

    Two Dumb Questions (2DB):
    - if the tickets were given away for free, how did they raise any money for the charity?
    - what does the "8" in Live 8 signify (or does it just sound groovy and a bit like Live Aid)?

    Off topic: Rally - so the zoo is a reliable big hit with your kids too?

    Oh yeah, we have a membership to the zoo. It even allows us to brings guests...(hinthinthint ;) )

    Supposedly the purpose of this concert is to raise awareness more than money. I heard an interview where Bob Geldof was talking about what he learned from his mistakes the first time around.

    And the 8 signifies the G8 meeting, which will be happening in Scotland at the same time as the shows. Sir Bob wants the G8 leaders to alleviate African debt - so since they've already agreed to do so...

    They had a competition for tickets whereby people had to text in, and each text message resulted in so much going into the pot.

    As for 'Live 8' - It's a play on the original Live Aid, and, as has been said, higlights the context of the thing at the same time of the G8 summit.
