[IMG]GeekDad did a write up of his experiences at PaizoCon 2017 which includes his impressions of Pathfinder: Kingmaker and some screenshots. GeekDad also captured a video snippet of the game.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker: We were treated to a bunch of the concept art for the computer based RPG of Pathfinder: Kingmaker. Lisa Stevens, Paizo CEO said that the game was probably a year out and currently had a couple of hours of content. I had the opportunity to demo the game during the day and it is much farther along than I expected. It was completely playable, and the developer said they had about four hours of mostly finished content, and more in various stages of development. They are planning to release with all the content and options from the Core Rulebook, and are expecting to do a Kickstarter, possibly in June, to add more classes, companions, and features. What I saw showed a game fun to play and pretty true to Pathfinder. The character sheet showed feats, and leveling choices that match what you make in the paper based version of the game. The developer said that while some feats had to be modified to fit a real-time-with-pause style video game, feats and options were included to allow you to create your characters as you'd expect from Pathfinder. What I saw left me more excited for this long awaited way to enjoy Pathfinder.

With that, back to it... there's plenty more gaming to be had! Be sure to follow GeekDad for my post-con write-up.

I was excited about this release until I read:
Why not proper pen and paper (Temple of Elemental Evil/Dungeons & Dragons Tactics style) turn based combat?

    I'm disappointed. :p

I get the impression that most people find that turn-based combat slows the game down too much. I suppose combat to them is just a hindrance to furthering the story. :) I've always preferred the turn-based combat and was disappointed when Ultima changed between Ultima 6 and Ultima 7. But I still liked Ultima 7 :)

If Torment backers are any indication, it's pretty clear that D&D cRPG fans are split somewhere down the middle between those who enjoy RTwP and those who prefer TBS.

Also, I had no idea that this project was even in the works. I enjoyed the Kingmaker adventure path, but it's not the one I would have chosen to make a cRPG out of...

Oh well, I guess I'll buy it on release, then make a ToEE Total Conversion mod for it like I am for Icewind Dale. :D

I'm usually not a huge fan of turn based rpg's, i prefer the real time with pause option.
I was kinda peeved when they decided to make Torment : Tides of Numenera turn-based, even though a vote for it on the backer portal was pretty close to 50/50.

I'm preferential to real time and pause because it drastically speeds up combat. A fight can end in seconds instead of taking a couple minutes or more because turns have to cycle. I don't mind turn-based when it's a well implemented system like ToEE was.

True, but I'd rather suffer a slower paced game in favour of micromanaging my PC's tactical options.

A lot of it comes down to implementation and/or how good a system is for me. For example, I liked ToEE and would happily play all the IE games if they were ported into it. I didn't like ToN and it seems poorly geared to combat.

Yeah? Well give us a bit of time, I've started work on converting Icewind Dale into ToEE's engine, the prologue chapter is already playable, and available to download at http://www.Co8.org

Neat. Is KotB 100% finished now? I was tracking it a long while back and forgot about it.

The Orc Caves in the Caves of Chaos are as yet unpopulated, and only 3 party alignments are fully implemented to date, but it has been released as a "full version".

It's not compatible with Temple Plus yet though, so Prestige classes are not available.
