I've read John Ringo's "Troy Rising" trilogy and liked it. I also started reading the "Black Tide Rising" series and have enjoyed the first three books. Just picked up book #4 from the library today.

However the "Legend of Aldenata series" just didn't grip me. I tried reading "Hymn Before Battle" and it just felt like a slog. I have only read about 1/3 to 1/2 of the first book in the series.

Any suggestions or comments on his other works/series? The Paladin of Shadows series has been suggested, with the caveat that it has erotica in it as well or at least the first book Ghost has it, which I don't mind.

BTW, the "Legend of Aldenta" and "Paladin of Shadows" series are available on a number of CDs from the Baen free CD library in a variety of e-book formats. Look to CDs 8,11, 16, and 18 for the Paladin of Shadows series (I think 11,16, and 18 all have the same books) and #2,4,7,8,6,11,16, and 18 for the Legend of Aldenta series, which is a mixed bag on if they have early or late books from the series. I downloaded from the Fifth Imperium site almost a decade ago.
