Looking for advice... trying to load my old copy of IWD2 on my Win7 x64 rig. I d-click the setup.exe,,, the InstallShield Wizard appears,,, the bar graph fills up,,, then the Wizard disappears and nothing further happens. I've tried loading in WinXP compatibility mode, no joy.

If anyone has any ideas, they would be appreciated. Thanx!

Some things you can try :
    - Disable any background processes you can during the game installation.
-Try to copy both CDs in the same folder on your hard-drive and run the installation from there (setup.exe)
-Start the computer in safe mode, then try the installation.
-Get an alternate copy of the discs, either physical or digital by downloading it from an online source. shouldn't fall under 'pirating' per se, AFAIK. Since you own a copy of the game, legally you have a right to obtain a copy for use as you see fit.

IWD 2 should work fine on win7 x64, it's what i have it installed on.

Get the game from GOG (link at the top of the page). I know it sucks to pay again for a game you already have, but I haven't had any problems with GOG games loading.

Older games sometimes can´t understand the new concepts added in newer operating systems, e.g. games for Windows 95/98 sometimes expect to have administrator rights to install properly if you try to install them in the main folder, e.g. C:bad:Programs\ in Windows 7 and newer.

So install those games in a different folder. I use a different harddisk, e.g.
    F:bad:Rollenspiele (for RPG´s)
or try to install them with administrator rights.

    Curious.
I too have all the IE games on my laptop for Underway ( for science purposes :) )
The regular Disc version installed and plays quite normally.
