I'm not even going to bother posting a link to this, because you can find it in any large newspaper or any big news site.

America is strongly opposed to the Israeli declaration that they are going to oust Palestianian leader Yasser Arafat. Israel doesn't care and says that they'll do this on their own.

Anyone see something contrary to us being warmongers? We're trying to reduce the fighting in Israel, but they insist on escalating it.

I assume that not the whole US administration disapproves the israeli approach. Powell and the state department will oppose it, but I'm not so sure about the pentagon officials and the rest of the neocons. They aren't called Likudniks for no reason.

[IMG] The only way to keep the peace, until a final charter of Statehood is reached for Palentstein, is for Israel to complete the Defensive Wall.

This will prevent groups from Hamas from staging attacks to disrupt the peace process - which they have again and again.

Where there is a will there is a way. No fence can prevent that. And the Israelis, the right wingers in the military and the lunatic settlers, add to the violence without second thought. It certainly is shortsighted to only blame Hamas, or Arafat's Fatah, for that.

The intifada was a reaction of israel's occupation of the west bank, gaza and the west jordan strip and it's ironhanded rule there. The israelis aren't too compromising either; since their invasion of Lebanon they have more and more started to shoot first.

Palestinians and israelis today are two bullies beating each other to pulp. But the fight is unfair, one of the two has a supporting big brother.

About that wall, after reading this and this (that's in French sorry), I don't think it's so "defensive" and certainly won't calm things.

What I think is so bad is here in America, thanks to the governments "Isreal can do not wrong" policy that has been in place in many years most people think that the palestinians have killed so many more innocents than occasional "accidents" from isreal fire. The truth is before the Entifada, Isreal had killed 25 times the number of innocents than Palastinians had killed. And guess what? After over 2 years, Isrealies still have killed more innocent palastinians than the other way around. So who is the worst terrorist? The people who kill hundreds of innocents for "freedom" or those than kill even more hundreds in "defense". It is a sickening situation on both sides and neither is blameless to any degree. Bost sides have commited horrible atrocities but in America, most people seem to think "oh those poor Isrealies". Funny thing though, the palastinians have asked for the UN to guard the border but Isreal will not allow it. The world might then see what is going on over there is not as simple as they want everyone to believe. Until the US realizes that and just blindly supports Isreal, there will be no chance of peace. They need a neutral party to seperate them, remove the illegal jewish settlers and form a palestinian state. Both sides will have to be set down and simply told, this is how its going to be and if you don't like it, tough. If Isreal doesn't like it, take away the massive money that we give them every year and if the palestinians dont cooperate, they don't get concessions like bethleham and money to rebuild.

Your bias against America has blinded you. The entire US government is opposed to what Israel is doing.

The majority of Israelis and Palestinians want peace, and have been living together peacably for many decades. It's a few fanatics on each side that are causing the violence.

The entire Middle East backs the Palestinians. There's nations on support for both sides. It's unfair, yes, but if it wasn't for the US intervention, the Israelis would have committed genocide against the Palestinians, Syrians, Libyans, and Egyptians long ago.

In the old days, you had to organize and train an Army. Now, you just fund terrorist cells. Terrorists are the armies of the future.

I forget the name of the fund (it's like the United Defense Fund, or something), but the Church always asks for an extra little donation for it, once a month or so. What's so neat about this charatable donation is that all the child molestation settlement cases and lawyers are paid from it. It's got other uses, too; some food and clothing and heating oil.

And I would expect Islamic charities to work no differently. 75% to terrorists, 25% to humanitarian.

To be honest, I don't know why America hasn't setup something like this.

    Rastor,
have a look at this and ponder on it a bit. Now read this passage:
The attempt to establish an alternative to Arafat failed. We all know that Abbas quit. The quote above is paraphrased three times in this document. Killing or exiling Arafat would force the palestinians to find another leader. It would be an effective way to achieve this goal.
Killing him would be the most consequent approach here, and as the recent series of the israeli killing of Hamas leaders shows they recently became very straightforward.

Don't underestimate this paper, it was written for Netanjahu and included the recommendation to cancel the Oslo process, what happened. Now look at the authors at the bottom of the paper and you might get the impression that the disagreement with Israel on this isn't unanimous, more like, as if it excludes the pentagon civvie/ neocon fraction.

Tell me this... If someone murdered your democratically elected leader, even if you didn't like them, would you be able to forgive them and make peace work. I despise George Bush and his administration is the worst I have seen about lies and destroying America's good will. But if any other country murdered him, by god wouldn't even blink twice about blowing them back to the stone age. And if you thought the suicide bombers and violence is bad now, let Isreal murder him. There would be no peace then, but when your country is getting 16 billion a year from the US and all of its best military equipment and the populance that opposes you is mostly armed with rocks, if you don't want peace you can easily risk a war to justify slaughtering even more innocents. Sharon did after all allow the massacre of over 800 palastine refugees in the 80's and was brought up on war crime charges. He doesn't want peace... he wants war.

Well, when they were able to kill a dozen of Hamas leaders the last weeks and months, why should Arafat make such a difference? The answer would be the same as usual, violence and a few suicide bombings, giving a justification to strike upon the palestinians even harder.

If that's what you want, killing Arafat is the right solution for you.

Sharon believes that by personally killing terrorists or their political leaders israel can win. And that is what they do right now. Israel is actually more agressive than ever before in this fight.
