This piece comes from the artist's gallery here : http://cargocollective.com/kuciara/CRYTEK (The piece in question is towards the end of said gallery.)

as per the gallery's description - "Series of concept artwork for a untitled project I did at Crytek." So not book related at all i'm afraid.

What, do you think the ability to create such paintings just falls out of the sky? I mean, I'm sure there are a couple of savants out there, but the rest of us work hard to hone our craft. If you want to be able to do it, install Painter, grab a stylus and get to work. :shake:

Yeah, it all comes down to practice, hours and hours of it. drawabox.com is a good starting placce if you're a complete beginner looking for good drawing lessons.

Even after hours and hours of practice, the only thing I could draw were boobs. And those weren’t even very good. My stick people look broken and smiley faces aren’t very happy. I think there is something missing in me that is in great artists — that something, whatever it is, determines whether someone who works really hard gets a “that’s really nice dear” or an “OMG.”

The combination of talent and hard work is always awesome to see.

I needed remedial stick figure drawing classes in first grade and it never got any better than that (although I managed to graduate to a respectable Snoopy by my early 20's). My wife, on the other hand, comes from an artistic family so, when I got her art classes as an anniversary gift, she took to it like a frog takes to water and is doing amazing things. I am not sure I would even get a "that's really nice dear" unless there was deliberate pity-induced myopia in play.
