Is there some way to increase the speed at which the game runs?

In Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, you could enter the configuration utility to change the speed at which the game runs. I always set it at the maximum possible speed so I didn't have to wait so long to walk from one side of an area map to the other, even without the boots of speed.

In NWN, however, I don't see anything like that in the configuration. It would be great if that could be changed. It would make some things in the game far less tedious if it took less time to do it.

Do you mean the "frame rate" in BG1/2? There is nothing like this in NWN. Infinity Engine was in 2D, so it was relatively easy to implement something to speed up the animations and therefore the speed at which everything happens. Unfortunately there's nothing like this in NWN, and as far as I know none of the mods adress this.
