Is there a way to fulfill the Montaron/Xzar quest without having them both end up dead?

I love both Baldur's Gate games but I don't like how characters from the last game are killed off for petty side quests, like I believe it's Ajantis you slay thinking he's an ogre.

If you have the darkest day mod installed, then xzar and monteron are kept alive, otherwise no.

Where is the site for "The Darkest Day"? I see places to download it but I want to take a look at the official site that details what it has a little better and such. I saw it around a while ago but can't seem to find the link anymore, even searching on google.

team BG is no more I'm afraid. Best thing to do is search for the darkest day threads on here and see what the general opinion is.

Doesn't the newest version of Unfinished Business also have such a component?
I think I read something about it here.

UB doesn't have anything that lets you keep Montaron or Xzar alive, or indeed anything that affects them at all, to my recollection. You might be thinking of Quest Pack, but that still doesn't let you; it merely fleshes out the sequence before they DO meet their demise.

I think that he is thinking of the Big Picture mod which contains The Darkest Day's content. The website to look at is here.

If you are looking for the Darkest Day you can always get yourself a SPS account - Taluntain has included it in the SPS account holder direct content download section along with a selection of larger mods.
