[IMG] Does anyone have any experiences with electrical IR panel heating? They're apparently the latest thing in cost-effective heating solutions. They're still very new to our market so most people don't even know what they are, but I expect in other countries they may be more common.

If they really are all that they're cracked up to be, then the cost/effect ratio is certainly well in favour of such ceiling-mounted panels as opposed to most of the more traditional (central) heating systems that are common here. Basically, you entirely remove the need for a boiler room, furnace, chimney, piping, plus all the associated and maintenance costs. Since the majority of 30+ year old buildings here have heating oil-based central heating, with the current sky-high prices, the savings on a yearly basis with IR panels are reported to be 50% or more, which more than justifies shutting off the old furnace and never turning it on again...

I've heard of them, but I don't know anyone who has one. Around here natural gas forced air furnaces are typical.
