I've dusted off my copy of NWN Platinum, since my old computer didn't have the hardware to run it.
Now on my new computer it won't install. It gives an error message when it tries to copy the data2.cab file, errors out on a redundency cycle check. I looked around and tried all suggestions (updating InstallShield, manually copying the files, going into safe mode and disabling all security, etc.)
I have no problem with basic NWN, just the Platinum edition.
    Anyone else run into this?

I'm running WinXP Pro SP 2, all current updates installed.

I've had similar problems when I try using a cd I've shelved for quite some time. It may be related to your cd. redudndancy cycle errors or cyclic redundancy errors are common to long unused cd's.

possible stupid suggestion: if you've got no other solutions, try copying the cd to your hard drive. If it still says an error about cyclic redundancy, then it's your cd (try copying it a number of times). If it is copied, then try installing it again with your cd. Heck this works for me at times

The disc won't copy over, either... odd.

Not really, it proves that the disc is bad or damaged. Is it scratched badly? If it's just superficial damage you might be able to repair it one way or another. If it looks fine, it could be that the disc was bad when you bought it.

One more longshot suggestion. Lets assume the cd is fine. Is the drive your using to read it a burner? If it is, have you updated its firmware?
When I first got my new computer with a dvdburner, i ran into that *failed redundancy check error often.

Well, I wound up copying the disc on my mother's computer, and then it installed on my machine fine. The only thng I can think of is that it's a cheap print copy. The original disc wasn't scratched or damaged at all, I checked that, and all my hardware is up-to date.
The way regular CDs are printed, and the way you make them at home are completely different, however, and that seemed to be tha equalizer.

My machine is a laptop, so it's DVD drive is built for durability more than precision.

Oh well, I've got it installed now, so I'm happy.

    Thanks for the advice, guys.
