[IMG] A question: i've read somewhere that there is some "imprisoned mage" quest in the Underdark, that i am supposed to receive from a group of druegar (sp?). I remember when i was exploring the main area in the Underdark, i met a group of dwarfs that were hostile for some reason and i killed them - i guess these were the dwarf i was supposed to receive the quest from... Is there any other way to receive that quest or am i screwed here? If i am screwed, is there anything to cry about - like was i supposed to get some great Helm of Total Immunity to Everything as a result of that quest? Or should i just forget about this whole thing and get the hell out of the stupid place (i am nearly done with everything else)?

    Thanks in advance.

The Duargar are traders in the south area of the main cavern. They wouldn't attack you unless you attacked them. And I don't see how you could complete the quest otherwise, because you need to buy the Freedom scroll to release the mage from the Duergar...

[IMG] All right, thanks... I will look again, although i am pretty sure that i've already seen everything in this area. Probably i've accidently damaged one of them while fighting somebody else and they turned hostile on me.

You could cheat slightly. It wouldn't affect your game to much. Just hack yourself a scroll of 'Freedom', cast the spell in the middle of the map and see what happens.

Thanks for your help - i have already found the dwarves, alive and well, i miseed them during my first run. Incidentally, the mage has gone from "imprisoned" to "dead".

I hope you completed his elemental gate quest before you "changed his status"! Good XP in that quest, and you'll need all the XP you can get in the Underdark!

BTW, another way to cheat that Freedom spell if you have a Sorcerer would be to hack him up to an appropriate level and select Freedom as one of his spells. That would be kind of dumb, as you don't use the spell very often, and wasting one of the Sorcerer's limited slots on the spell would preclude some other very good spells!

you can buy the scroll from the dwarf that tells you about the quest, right down where you apear first, if you like, when you give the book that the mage requests, you do what he asks, you can pickpocket everytime before you talk to him, then when the last quest is done, you can demand mor payment and kill him for 20000xp, of course, be warned, we casts time stop and imprisionment...
