I just bought the Icewind Dale triology off E.B.Games, no manual but all three disks, and when I attempted to load the game, I recieved a warning that some files were corrupted. A little bemused, I uninstalled and then reinstalled Icewind Dale, attempted to play it .... and the screen began flashing, 'squares' of the screen remaining as they were while others flashed black, brown and white. Also, my mouse cursor started leaving after-images, and it became nearly impossible to see the actual buttons.

Is there anything that can be done to fix this (I am running Windows Vista and the latest Direct X drivers) or have I just blown $30?

Have you tried changing the config setting? There must be a config exe in your game folder that allows you to disable some features (maybe turn off 3D acceleration, I've had issues with Planescape Torment in the past and disabling it solved my problems). I don't have the game on my computer right now but I know for a fact that it can run with Vista. You could also try running the game in compatibility mode (right click properties).
