Icewind Dale remake rumour?

    I heard from a friend that IWD was going to be remade somehow. I guess this is a crazy rumour he read on the net. Heard anything like this?

    There actually was some talk about making a mod for IDW like Tutu, so you could play IDW with 3.ed. rules.

    But I guess it was just a thought, nobody started to work on it *Afaik* ;)

    Lynadin, that project was started. It was called Icewind Gate, and can be played in beta (or more like gamma or delta) but it was never fully completed.

    No, Icewind Gate was the converting of BG2 to 3E rules, not IWD.

    It's the first time I've heard of an IWD remake rumour. It would be fun if that were true.

    I agree, a IWD1 into IWD2 engine for eample could be great. Or even better, IWD1 into the ToEE engine, despite its many issues its still the greatest rpg engine i have seen.

    NO - I mean, why would they even spend time on it ? What would be the advantage ?

    In my humble opinion, IWD 1 was far better !

    In that line of though, why spend time on IWD1 ?

    Or why bother with bg1tutu ?

    geez... you would think people belive that things like these would completelly replace the original, as if some dark demon walks around and replace everyones cd's with the new cd's so you could never play the game again as it was...

    This sounds like Fred S. Richardson's IWD1tutu, which I saw somewhere over on the Pocket Planers domain - a BG1tutu only for IWD1/2, if you get my meaning.

    He actually has a forum for it over at G3 and progress is going pretty smoothly. Theres no ETA, but at the rate he's going I wouldn't be surprised if he had a playable beta out in 3-6 months.
