I have been debating purchasing this game. What game is it most like? Does it contain any humor?

It's most like IWD1 (many tough battles). But not quite, because the new 3rd Edition D&D rules change it quite a lot, making characters more flexible and fun to make. It's quite beautiful, and sometimes quite funny. It's worth it.

This is a must have game. It would be a shame if your CD collection lacked it... :p

IMHO it is a great game. It follows closely to the original IWD as a dungeon crawler. One of the best selling points would have to be the 3E rules :thumb:
It is a lot more flexible, and character development takes on a whole new perspective.
Don't ponder for another minute - buy it

I didn't actually start playing the first IWD until a year after I started playing tabletop 3E D&D. I became so impressed/enthused/whatever-the-word-is with 3E, that using 2E rules on IWD turned out to way to limiting to me. I lost steam with it real, real fast.

However, I can tell you that I get the same feeling with IWD2 that I got when I played Baldur's Gate. This is one of those few games that you will play over and over again to see how things will turn out with different choices in dialogue or party configuration.

So, is it worth it? It most certainly is. Even at triple the price it is worth it. Go get it or reepnorp will have to come smack you.

    [IMG] IWD2 is great.

I'm only in Chapter 1, but having a blast.

There's tons of character generation options for replayability.

It has replay value not in the way BG2 does, as in different alliances, etc. but from the fact you may have a bully group one game, and then a paladin leader the next(my main game is aasimar paladin, who owns)or maybe as a drow leader, you get different responses and such and different alignments give you different weapon choices and different domain spells are a big perk. i bought it and have lost my social life. . . boo hoo, but im having a blastttttt

You can talk to yourself and pretend as much as you want while playing it. But you won't affect the way the game unfolds. None of these excellent "Fantasy Adventure Games" (to name them appropriately - although I don't like the acronym that results from it) has any "role-playing" in it. They never did, IMO. (Not that I feel the need for that).

    It's nevertheless an excellent F.A.G. !

I enjoyed all infinity engine games exept this, but thats only because it takes a long time untill characters move to where they are supposed to be. This has to be a bug, im using 4000 pathnodes at 1ghz, this SHOULD work.
